LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University’s Meghan
McGrath was named today as the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference’s women’s soccer “Player of the
Week” for the week ending Sept. 22, 2003.
McGrath, a freshman midfielder from Vernon, N.J., (Vernon
H.S.), scored a goal in each of The Rock’s two games
that week (2-0 win over PSAC rival Edinboro, 2-2 deadlock with PSAC
foe Lock Haven). She also had an assist on SRU’s second goal
at Lock Haven.
McGrath has scored at least one goal in all five Rock games to
date; she has six goals and one assist total this season. She
currently ranks second in the PSAC in both goals per game (1.2) and
game-winning goals (2), fourth in points per game (2.6), sixth in
goals scored and eighth in total points (13).
Behind the 1-2 scoring punch of McGrath and junior forward Sarah
Arsenault (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy), The Rock has
compiled a 4-0-1 overall record and is currently tied with West
Chester for the PSAC lead with a 2-0-1 mark.
The Rock is ranked 15th in the latest National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Division II national poll.
SRU hosts St. Vincent in a 4 p.m. non-conference game on Wednesday,
Sept. 24, before traveling to Shippensburg for a 2:30 p.m. PSAC
