SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Junior forward Sarah Arsenault (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored two goals and assisted on a third Wednesday afternoon to lead Slippery Rock University to a 4-0 win over visiting Mansfield University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s soccer action on James Egli Field.

The goals were Arsenault’s fourth and fifth of the season, while the assist was her first.

The Rock, which scored all of its goals in the first half of action, outshot Mansfield (1-1-1) by a 27-0 margin and had nine shots on goal en route to its third win in as many games this fall. Wednesday’s game was the PSAC opener for both teams.

Senior midfielder Annie Manno (Pittsgrove, NJ/Schalick HS) converted a corner kick from Arsenault into the game’s first goal nine minutes into action.

Arsenault made it 2-0 when she scored an unassisted goal in the 30th minute.

The Rock got its third and fourth goals in the span of 21 seconds. Freshman midfielder Meghan McGrath (Vernon, NJ/Vernon HS) converted an assist from freshman forward Lauren Steele (Leonardtown, MD/Leonardtown HS) at the 37:01 mark of the first half before Arsenault scored off an assist by freshman midfielder Nicole Jacobs (Pittsburgh/North Hills HS) at the 37:22 mark.

The Rock returns to action next Wednesday, Sept. 17, when it will host PSAC rival Edinboro University in a 4 p.m. game on Egli Field.
