SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Junior forward Sarah Arsenault
(Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) and freshman midfielder
Meghan McGrath (Vernon, NJ/Vernon HS) had a goal each
and continued their torrid scoring pace Wednesday in leading
Slippery Rock University to a 2-0 win over visiting Edinboro
University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s
soccer action on James Egli Field.
The win was the fourth in as many games this fall and second in
PSAC play for SRU. Edinboro dropped to 5-3, 1-1.
McGrath scored her fifth goal of the season when she put
home an unassisted tally with 25:49 gone in the first half.
Arsenault added an insurance score when she recorded her
sixth goal of the season off an assist from sophomore midfielder
Emily Winterich (Brownstown/Conestoga Valley HS) at
the 62:52 mark.
Sophomore goalie Amanda Wier (Bethlehem/Fairfield, [Conn].
HS) recorded four saves en route to chalking up her second
straight shutout.
The Rock returns to action on Saturday when it travels to PSAC
rival Lock Haven for a 2:30 p.m. match.
SRU will host St. Vincent next Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. in
